Jaw-Dropping Evidence: Prosecutor Says Padayachee Couldn't Draft His Own Affidavits | Dylan Perumal
The Madlanga Commission of Inquiry heard explosive testimony as State Advocate Drushantha Ramsamy made extraordinary claims about the investigation into General Lushaba and the controversial Project Divergent operation.
Ramsamy testified that investigator Siso Padiachi allegedly lacked investigative experience, claiming he struggled to draft affidavits and relied heavily on Dylan Perumal to prepare key legal documents. According to her evidence, Perumal allegedly played a far greater role behind the scenes than previously understood.
The Commission also heard evidence about an alleged WhatsApp message stating a meeting with Ian Cameron had "gone very well" and received "full support." Ramsamy testified that her understanding was that investigators believed Cameron supported what she described as an agenda to remove National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola and Lieutenant-General Dumisani Khumalo from their positions. She acknowledged this was her interpretation of the message rather than direct evidence of Cameron's intentions.
The hearing further revealed allegations of:
Planned arrests every two weeks under Project Divergent.
Pressure to fast-track prosecutions despite incomplete investigations.
Internal conflict between prosecutors and investigators.
Concerns over poor-quality witness statements.
Alleged attempts to proceed with Section 28 processes before investigations were complete.
Tensions involving Advocate Andrea Johnson, Dylan Perumal, Siso Padiachi, and other members of the investigative team.
Ramsamy also described how she lost confidence in the quality of the investigation, saying critical evidence was missing, witness statements contradicted one another, and investigators allegedly pushed for enrolments before cases were trial-ready.
The Madlanga Commission continues examining allegations surrounding Crime Intelligence investigations, Project Divergent, and decisions made by senior prosecutors and investigators.
