Passengers scrambling to rebook flights as WestJet flight attendant strike kicks off

The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) local 8125, which represents about 4,400 WestJet flight attendants, confirmed its members were on strike Sunday morning.

The strike is now impacting thousands of travellers with hundreds of flights cancelled over the weekend.

Though WestJet is obligated, under the law, to rebook tickets for impacted customers in the next 48 hours, it’s proving to be a challenge for many, as many WestJet destinations can only be reached by one other Canadian airline – Air Canada.
