Spain's Ceuta Border Crisis Deepens | 67 Migrants Dead, Tens Of Thousands Return To Morocco

Spain is facing one of the largest migration crises in its recent history after tens of thousands of migrants crossed from Morocco into the Spanish enclave of Ceuta in North Africa. While many migrants have now voluntarily returned to Morocco, the humanitarian cost has been devastating.

Spanish authorities say at least 67 migrants died during the mass crossing, with many drowning at sea or being crushed near the border breakwater. Officials blamed human trafficking networks for exploiting vulnerable migrants and encouraging dangerous crossings.

According to Spain's Interior Ministry, nearly 50,000 migrants crossed into Ceuta since Thursday, while local authorities estimate the total may have reached 60,000, equivalent to nearly 70% of Ceuta's population.
