The debate over the Kalma controversy has intensified after author A. Ranganathan argued that government and secular schools should not compel students to recite religious verses of any faith.
Speaking on the issue, Ranganathan said, "Government school or secular school can't force kids to recite biblical verses. Reading the Kalma or asking people to convert is an obligation. These kinds of things have no place in secular institutions.
