Hundreds of thousands gathered in Najaf for a funeral procession for Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, whose coffin was carried past the Imam Ali shrine following his killing in a US-Israeli strike earlier in the war. The turnout reflected both Iran’s contested influence in Iraq and expressions of regional solidarity, with chants against Israel and frequent references to Gaza.
Al Jazeera’s Jack Hewson reports from Najaf, Iraq.
