After seeing a little bit of Tennessee, us Irish folk were keen and curious to go further into the Deep South to Sweet Home Alabama. Was it really sweet like home? Let's find out!
We arrived in Huntsville, or better known as Rocket City 🚀 by the evening time, and were ready to go hit the town for some exploring by sundown. We wanted to see what Downtown Huntsville, the home to the U.S. Space & Rocket Center, was really like.
Of course us Irish people are not used to the heat and were feeling quite dehydrated, so our first stop was Jefferson St. Pub to quench that thirst with a Twisted Tea (Jack Aynsley definitely influenced us here) and a Sun Cruiser. We listened to some chill live music as the sun went down on a southern Friday summer's night in Huntsville. 🌅
What happened next gave us the finest first impression of the people of Alabama. Amy complimented a stranger on his dancing, which opened up conversation and next thing you know it he was giving us a tour of downtown Huntsville, taking us to Big Spring Park and telling us all about the history of this city. It is safe to say that this gentleman, who we later learned to call Matt, showed us just how hospitable and friendly the people of Alabama can be. 👥
After this we went to an underground bar called 'Voodoo' while we waited for our table at the well-known Jack Brown's Beef & Burger Joint. We sipped on a pink chicken and enjoyed some more live music 🎶
Now, whilst it might not be that typical, hearty southern food, we had heard about this famous burger joint and how they were home of 100% American Wagyu burgers, and thought, what better place for a 25 year old girl to have her first burger. 🍔
Yep, you read and heard that right... No. Words.
So, did JB's live up to the hype?
The next morning we got breakfast at Biscuit Belly on our way out of Huntsville, but all of our footage from that morning has disappeared. So we ended this video at home, on a 'wee' country road in Ireland. ☘️
