SpaceX is officially preparing to launch Flight 12 (IFT-12) from Starbase, Texas—and this might be the most anticipated test flight yet!
This mission marks the historic debut of the next-generation Starship V3 (Version 3) architecture. Launching from the brand-new Pad 2 (OLM-2), Booster 19 and Ship 39 feature massive structural redesigns, upgraded Raptor engines, and the baseline technology required for NASA’s future Artemis lunar landings.

🔴 What to Watch For During Flight 12:
• Next-Gen Architecture: The first flight test of the fully redesigned Block 3 / Version 3 Starship and Super Heavy booster.
• New Infrastructure: The inaugural launch utilizing the newly built Pad 2 orbital launch mount.
• Booster Splashdown: Super Heavy (B19) will attempt a precise landing burn and splashdown in the Gulf of Mexico (no catch attempt for this structural debut).
• In-Space Payload Demo: A deployment test of 20 Starlink simulators and 2 specially modified Starlink V3 test satellites designed to image Starship's heat shield from the outside.
• Pushing Extreme Limits: SpaceX has intentionally removed a single heat shield tile and painted several others white to test thermal imaging capabilities. They also plan a brutal, intentional rear-flap stress maneuver during Indian Ocean reentry.
