Ireland weather: Weather warnings updated for four counties as heavy rain and flood risk remains

A status orange weather warning continues today, with heavy rainfall and flooding expected, said Met Eireann.Dublin and Wicklow 's Status Orange warning, kicking in at 12pm yesterday, was extended to last until 3pm today. However, the Status Orange warnings for Dublin and Wicklow now due to expire at 9am instead of 3pm, while the warning for Louth has been brought back from 6pm to 3pm.There is a status Yellow warning for Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Wexford, and Tipperary which expires at 9am today. Meanwhile, a status Yellow warning for Dublin, Cavan, Monaghan, and Meath expires at noon.Met Eireann said that "spells of very heavy rain falling on already saturated ground combined with high river levels and high tides will lead to localised flooding, river flooding, with potential impacts along the entire course of the river, and difficult travel conditions."Their forecast today predicts yet more rain continuing, following the overnight rainfall seen across the capital.Met Eireann said: A very wet, cloudy and perhaps a little blustery start. Rain is continuing to spread north this morning, heaviest and most persistent in the east and northeast with the continued risk of flooding.""Staying rather overcast into the afternoon as the rain becomes confined to Ulster and scattered showers follow in from the south. Easterly breezes will be fresh about the coasts with highs of 7 to 10 degrees."As for tonight: "Staying cloudy and rather wet with scattered showers. The showers will be heaviest and more persistent across Munster. Easterly breezes and lows of 3 to 6 degrees with some mist patches forming overnight too."Their orange warning for Dublin reads: "Spells of very heavy rain falling on already saturated ground combined with high river levels and high tides will lead to:• Localised Flooding• River Flooding, with potential impacts along the entire course of the river• Difficult travel conditions"A weather advisory is in place across Ireland until February 9.
