Democrats face tight midterms race in Michigan as Trump labels candidate a “jihadist”
The Democrats are facing a tough midterms race in Michigan according to the opinion polls. They suggest that the Democrat Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed, is neck-and-neck with his Republican opponent Mike Rogers.
El-Sayed, who’s from the left of the party, is an outspoken critic of Israel’s government over the war in Gaza. He’s facing a barrage of unfounded accusations, including from President Donald Trump, that he is a jihadist extremist with links to terrorism.
Former President Barack Obama has been in Michigan campaigning for El-Sayed, in a clear sign that the Democrats are worried they could lose a key Senate seat.
