Longstanding clothing retailer Kastner's Men's and Ladieswear is closing its doors in early 2027 after serving generations of local customers for more than a century. CTV's Peter Szperling speaks with second-generation owner Ahron Langburt, who announced his retirement as shifting consumer habits, online retail and pandemic pressures made traditional brick-and-mortar storefronts difficult to maintain. Longtime patrons including Carol and Curtis visited the downtown liquidation sale to browse wedding suits and share memories of shopping at the beloved business with their parents and grandparents. Langburt began working in the family enterprise at age 10 and noted that while closing is painful, the personalized customer service and quality craftsmanship of independent haberdashers have become rare across Canada.
