Houthis 'Bombard' Saudi's Most-Important Cities; Missiles Explode Over Mecca & Medina | Watch

Saudi Arabia says air defences intercepted two ballistic missiles launched by Yemen’s Houthis over the Mecca and Medina regions, with debris falling in several areas and emergency crews dispatched to respond. Saudi Civil Defence specifically identified Wadi Mughamas, outside Mecca, as one location where interception debris came down. The incident followed earlier “potential danger” alerts across western Saudi Arabia, including Mecca province, Jeddah, Taif and the Red Sea oil hub of Yanbu. The location makes the latest escalation particularly sensitive. Mecca is Islam’s holiest city, while Medina is home to the Prophet’s Mosque and is Islam’s second-holiest city. The Houthis had previously said Mecca and Medina would be exempt from their campaign against Saudi airports and airspace. The latest interceptions therefore put renewed attention on that declared exemption as the Yemen conflict’s missile threat reaches the regions surrounding both holy cities.
