Turkey's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has issued a stark warning over rising tensions with Iran and the Strait of Hormuz, cautioning that the region faces a dangerous choice between diplomacy and further war. Speaking in Istanbul, Fidan insisted that military intervention against Iran is not the solution and called for the strategic waterway to reopen amid fresh threats from Iran's Revolutionary Guards against US forces escorting commercial ships.
Fidan also addressed the Russia-Ukraine war, calling for an immediate ceasefire and a peace agreement. He warned that disruptions to Black Sea grain exports could trigger food crises in vulnerable countries, including Egypt, and proposed keeping vital Black Sea shipping routes out of the conflict.
