Porter Airlines is celebrating 20 years of operations while continuing rapid network expansion through its major operating hub at the Ottawa International Airport. CTV's Tyler Fleming speaks with long-serving airline employees Shelley Firth and Francis Gauthier, who reflected on the carrier's growth from two regional planes in 2006 to an active fleet of 85 aircraft. CEO Michael Deluce noted that despite industry-wide challenges including rising fuel costs and economic pressures, passenger volumes have grown between 30 and 35 per cent this year. The airline now employs a local workforce of 500 personnel at its regional maintenance hangar and plans to launch four new direct flights to southern vacation destinations this fall.
