India Slams UN Rapporteur Over Dawood Report: India Says Dawood Fled Country Before 2003 UN Listing
India has strongly criticised UN Special Rapporteur Ben Saul over a counter-terrorism report that described Dawood Ibrahim’s criminal network, D-Company, as an “India-based” organisation. Speaking at the UN General Assembly’s Third Committee, Indian diplomat Raghoo Puri said the report contained factual inaccuracies and failed to mention that Dawood Ibrahim had been wanted in India in connection with terror attacks since 1993. India asserted that he had fled the country before his 2003 UN listing for links to Al-Qaeda and maintained that he resides in Pakistan, according to the UN listing cited by India. New Delhi also called for greater accuracy, impartiality and accountability in reports issued by UN experts
