The conflict between Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Houthi movement is escalating, with reported Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia’s King Khalid and King Fahd airports and retaliatory Saudi-led coalition airstrikes targeting Houthi positions in Sanaa and Taiz.
The developments come amid renewed diplomatic efforts, including a phone call between the Saudi and Iranian foreign ministers, during which Iran offered to facilitate dialogue. At the United Nations, US Ambassador Jeff Bartos condemned the Houthi actions, while analyst Scott Uehlinger examines Washington’s strategic calculations and the risk of a wider regional and maritime conflict.
Al Jazeera’s correspondents report from Doha, Sanaa and Tehran, examining the latest military developments, diplomatic initiatives and their implications for regional security.
