Xi’s ‘Woman Spy’ In Trump Backyard: FBI Uncovers China's Taiwan Operation From California | DETAILS

A 34-year-old California woman has been arrested by the FBI for allegedly acting as an unregistered agent for China and surveilling a close relative of Taiwan President Lai Ching-te, according to U.S. authorities and court documents. Wanying Zhang, also known as Heather, was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport just before she was due to board a flight to China. Investigators allege she was directed by Chinese officials to conduct surveillance and send photographs, videos and vehicle license plate information. Taiwan has condemned the alleged operation as an example of “transnational repression,” while China has not publicly responded to the allegations. The arrest comes amid heightened tensions between Washington, Beijing and Taipei and ahead of former Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen’s planned visit to the United States.
