Trump has pressured Europe to release its emergency diesel reserves as global fuel prices surge amid the war with Iran and disruptions to energy supplies. Trump said Europe had agreed to release a “massive amount” of diesel stocks, with the process beginning immediately.
The G7 has now announced plans to release up to 100 million barrels of strategic oil reserves through the International Energy Agency (IEA) over four months. A substantial diesel release will be front-loaded within the first 20 days, as G7 members and partners try to ease pressure on fuel markets.
