Russia is deploying a new generation of jet-powered Geran drones in Ukraine, creating fresh challenges for Ukrainian air-defence forces. The faster UAVs can reach speeds of hundreds of kilometres per hour and fly at higher altitudes, leaving defenders with less time to detect and intercept them. The Geran-3, Geran-4 and Geran-5 represent an evolving Russian drone threat, while Ukrainian operators say existing interceptor systems are struggling to keep pace. Meanwhile, Russia has also reported striking a cargo vessel in the Black Sea that it claims was carrying military equipment for Ukrainian forces.
