'DO NOT INTERVENE...': Xi's Team Changes Tone On Trump After US Meeting? Big Warning Emerges

China has rejected the Philippines’ updated maritime chart covering disputed areas of the South China Sea, calling it “illegal and invalid” and accusing Manila of violating Chinese territorial sovereignty. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said Zhongye Island and Mahuan Island are part of China’s Nansha Islands and claimed Beijing has sovereignty over the islands and their adjacent waters. Guo accused the Philippines of exceeding its territorial scope by delineating the so-called Kalayaan Island Group and issuing nautical charts covering disputed islands and reefs. China said the move violates its territorial sovereignty and what it described as relevant international law, warning that Beijing would take necessary measures to safeguard its territorial and maritime interests in the South China Sea. The latest dispute adds to continuing tensions between China and the Philippines over competing territorial and maritime claims in the strategically important waterway.
