The UAE is reassessing parts of its push to bypass the Strait of Hormuz as the high cost of new pipelines, ports and overland export routes raises questions about whether some projects will remain economically viable.
Abu Dhabi is still expanding crude export capacity through Fujairah and alternative corridors, but products such as sulphur, fertilisers and polymers may continue using Hormuz if normal shipping resumes and traditional routes prove cheaper.
