Russia’s Vienna envoy has accused Western countries of effectively encouraging Ukrainian attacks on nuclear facilities through what Moscow describes as silence over repeated strikes near the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant and the nearby city of Enerhodar.
The Russian diplomat claims that while Western governments publicly emphasize nuclear safety, they have not sufficiently condemned attacks on infrastructure surrounding the Zaporizhzhia plant. Moscow says this alleged silence risks normalizing attacks around one of Europe’s most closely watched nuclear facilities.
The claims come amid continuing tensions surrounding the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, which remains at the center of the Russia-Ukraine conflict and international nuclear-safety concerns. The allegations in this report reflect the Russian side’s account and should be viewed in that context.
