U.S. Navy's Subsea Drone Falls Into Iran’s Hands; IRGC Begins Hunt For Hidden Military Secrets?

Iran says it has begun work on a U.S. unmanned underwater vehicle captured near the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz, with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps saying the platform will be dismantled and reverse-engineered. IRGC spokesperson Brigadier General Hossein Mohebbi said the captured vessel contained advanced American technology that Iranian engineers would study. Iranian media identified the platform as a Dive-LD, an autonomous underwater vehicle manufactured by U.S. defence company Anduril Industries. Washington has sought to minimise the significance of the loss, saying the vehicle malfunctioned during a survey mission and was an older model without classified sonar, radar equipment or sensitive data. Even without sensitive mission data, however, Iran could potentially examine physical aspects of the platform, including its hull, propulsion, power systems and mechanical architecture.
