Life in Hokkaido 🇯🇵 | Rishiri Island: Trapped by the Weather, Saved by the Food

I went to Rishiri, a small island off the northwest coast of Hokkaido, with my parents.

The plan was three nights: one day on Rishiri, one day on Rebun, and then Mt. Rishiri. The weather decided otherwise. Every ferry to Rebun was cancelled, and we spent two days going around the same small island in the rain, waiting for the sky to clear.

It turned out fine. The food on this island is extraordinary — sea urchin, scallops, kombu in everything, and the ramen people call the hardest to reach in Japan.
