This is the Four Seasons Private Residences in San Francisco. Two units converted into one, redesigned from the sightlines out. Oak frames every view to combat the north-facing views to create the warm, continuous base that allows the stone to read as punctuation rather than wallpaper. The cantilevered island is a structural statement. The sculptural stools introduce weight at the base of the room, juxtaposing the visual weight of the other materials. The finishes differentiate without breaking the whole. Each room has its own character, weight, and moment.
