Saudi Arabia may have used a Chinese-made DF-15A ballistic missile in combat for the first time, with missile wreckage discovered in Yemen raising major questions about Riyadh’s military capabilities and its message to Iran.
The Wall Street Journal reported that social media footage, along with statements from Yemen’s government and the Houthis, points to Saudi Arabia as the possible launcher. The attribution has not been conclusively confirmed.
The reported appearance of the DF-15A is significant because Saudi Arabia was not previously publicly known to operate this missile. The development also comes amid escalating Houthi attacks, threats to Saudi territory and shipping, and growing tensions involving Iran and its regional allies.
Could the missile strike be more than an attack on the Houthis?
