‘Israel Can't Dictate American Policy’: JD Vance Warns Netanyahu In Stern Message On Mideast Affairs

Vice President JD Vance has declared that the United States must not allow its Middle East policy to become “subservient” to Israel. Speaking at an All-In Podcast conference, Vance described Israel as an important partner in military technology and intelligence sharing. But he argued that Washington should not automatically support every decision made by Benjamin Netanyahu’s government. Vance credited Donald Trump with being willing to publicly disagree with Netanyahu when Israeli priorities conflict with American interests. He extended the same principle to NATO, saying European alliances should not determine the entirety of US policy toward Europe. The vice president is not calling for a rupture with Israel. He is establishing a boundary: Israel remains a partner, but Washington retains the right to say no.
