'Canada On Sale': Surprise Revolt Rocks Toronto; Streets Erupt Against PM Carney's Investment Push

Hundreds of activists took to the streets of downtown Toronto to protest Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney’s investment summit, which aims to attract global investors to more than 160 mining, energy, technology and infrastructure projects.

Protesters from labor, migrant rights, environmental and social justice groups criticized plans they say could expand fossil fuel infrastructure, increase military production and transfer public assets to private investors.

The demonstration comes as Carney faces a political balancing act. His approval rating remains above 60 percent, with many Canadians supporting his response to Donald Trump’s tariffs. But his rollback of several Justin Trudeau-era climate policies has sparked criticism from the progressive wing of his Liberal Party.
