EUROPE ON ALERT! 'Russian Aircraft' Storm NATO Territory Twice In 24 Hours; US Allies Scramble Jets

Finland has accused Russia of allegedly violating its airspace, raising fresh concerns along NATO’s increasingly tense eastern flank. Finland’s Defence Ministry said a Russian aircraft is suspected of entering Finnish sovereign airspace near Porvoo in the Gulf of Finland. The aircraft allegedly remained inside Finnish airspace for several minutes before turning back towards international airspace. Finnish authorities activated air surveillance and defence mechanisms and have launched an investigation to determine the aircraft’s exact flight path and the circumstances surrounding the suspected incursion. The incident comes after previous accusations of Russian military aircraft entering Finnish airspace in May and June.
