Gamal Mansour, Syrian analyst and Lecturer in Political Science at the University of Toronto, joins Al Jazeera’s live from Amsterdam. He says Atef Najib symbolised the repression and abuse of the Assad regime, while his trial marks an important first step towards transitional justice in Syria. Mansour also says the lack of a special tribunal for crimes against humanity remains a major challenge.
