Congress MP Renuka Chowdhury: 'Dharmendra Pradhan Resigns In Morning, The Parliament Will Function'

Senior Congress leader Renuka Chowdhury discussed the opposition’s response to student protests, demands for Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation, and calls for a parliamentary debate. She said Rahul Gandhi was reflecting the students’ demand and argued that resignation and discussion need not be treated as alternatives, stating, "Pradhan resigns in the morning, the parliament will function." Chowdhury questioned police action against protesters, referring to tear gas, water cannons and alleged assaults, and said Parliament must address the students’ concerns. She also said the opposition should be able to protest outside the Prime Minister’s residence and rejected limits that confined demonstrations to a prescribed space. On the Supreme Court’s refusal to urgently list a plea challenging police action, she appealed to the judiciary to "rise to the occasion" and consider concerns involving students’ lives and rights.
