Northside Partnership Apprenticeship Fair returns to Darndale for school leavers

School leavers in Darndale have been encouraged to attend an apprenticeship fair next week.The Northside Partnership's Apprenticeship Fair will feature employers and training providers showcasing the extensive range of programmes on offer in the area. It's scheduled for Tuesday, March 10, at Northside Civic Centre, Bunratty Road, Coolock, Dublin 17, running from 10am until 2pm.After extremely successful, fully-booked events in 2023, 2024 and 2025, more than 20 employers are coming back to discuss opportunities with prospective apprentices. Sessions will run in 30-minute intervals and places are limited. Entry is free with tickets available through Eventbrite.Northside Partnership is a not-for-profit development organisation collaborating with local residents, community representatives, the State, employers, trade unions and elected officials. A diverse selection of employers will be present from various sectors, including hairdressing, catering, engineering, healthcare, finance and hospitality.Apprenticeships enable participants to earn whilst they learn, without student loans or tuition fees – and are becoming an increasingly attractive option for continuing education outside of university. Organised training schemes allow apprentices to work towards qualifications whilst acquiring the skills and expertise required for success.Apprenticeship programmes deliver practical training and experience whilst helping apprentices build confidence in professional settings. Nowadays there are hundreds of apprenticeship schemes available across sectors as varied as construction, accountancy, mechanics and business."The past three years have seen the event booked out," said Paul Hayes, Education Coordinator with Northside Partnership. "Visitors were delighted with the information they received. It is a fantastic recruitment opportunity for employers and education providers, who can meet potential apprentices face-to-face."There are many different routes to training and employment. Northside Partnership's Apprenticeship Fair 2026 gives a great taste of what is available."Dr Jack Nolan, chair of the Darndale Economic and Social Plan implementation group, a Dublin City Council initiative for the area, believes apprentices can be equally as capable as graduates who spend three to four years at third level."For the employer, it is a cost-effective way of employing new workers, whilst for the apprentice, it offers an accelerated option to becoming fully qualified."Apprentices are informed from the very beginning as to how exactly jobs are to be completed and can be moulded into what an employer needs them to be.
