D.C. K.O. #3, versions of Batman looming over each other
2026 marks the 20th anniversary of Damian Wayne’s official entry into DC canon. Damian’s 2006 debut was a huge moment in Batman history. Fittingly, DC is celebrating this milestone by showing readers a version of Damian who is thriving in and out of the role of Batman. Most notably, he has a young son, Alfred. The name, of course, is significant. Alfred Pennyworth was the Wayne family butler and beloved mentor to the Bat-Family, from Bruce to Damian, up until his death at the hands of Bane in 2019. Once the prototypical loner, Bruce Wayne is now officially a grandfather in DC lore, and readers are thrilled with the development.
Bruce Wayne's Legacy Just Got Stronger
Alfred Wayne debuts as part of a vision of just one potential path for the future of Batman, and the Wayne family. He's not likely to factor into the DC Universe in the short term, but now that the character has been established, it's certain that he'll pop up again. Especially given the immediate positive reaction to the reveal from fans.
The DC fandom has been buzzing on social media after the release of DC K.O.: Knightfight #3. "Grandpa Bruce" is an instant hit. Batman fans love this for the character. Batman is no longer the story of a dark, brooding loner. It's the tale of a hero who built a family, and now DC has laid the foundation for the next generation.
