A live-action Cyberpunk 2077 TV show is in the works, and sci-fi fans absolutely need to check it out once it drops for many reasons. On October 3, 2025, it was revealed that a Cyberpunk 2077 live-action project was in development. According to CD Projekt RED ( via The Hollywood Reporter), "the show will be developed in close collaboration with the Cyberpunk 2077 creative team." That is the first major positive of the upcoming adaptation, as it should ensure the same level of quality and immersion one expects from the Cyberpunk universe. Additionally, the game studio's partner in the project is another exciting factor, as the live-action Cyberpunk 2077 series is being made with Anonymous Content. The latter team was said to include names like Garrett Kemble, Anonymous Content Studios' Head of TV, who oversaw shows like Mr. Robot, as well as Ryan Schwartz, Vice President of Film & TV, who worked on the upcoming Neuromancer adaptation at Apple TV. The Anonymous Content team also included CCO David Levine, HBO's former EVP and Co-Head of Drama. Levine oversaw many of HBO's hit series, like True Detective, Game of Thrones, and the high-concept sci-fi show Westworld. Looking at the talent behind the scenes and the potential Night City brings, the live-action Cyberpunk 2077 series is in the right hands.

The perfect example of how the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 series could be a hit lies in another adaptation to come from the video game franchise. Netflix's Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime was a successful release for the streaming service, with season 2 commissioned and currently in production. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners not only had high viewership but also found critical acclaim.
On Rotten Tomatoes, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners season 1 stands at a rare perfect 100% critics' score, boasting a near-perfect 95% audience score. Edgerunners has an emotional story, layered characters, impressive action, and gorgeous neon-soaked visuals that represent the best a cyberpunk project has to offer. If the live-action Cyberpunk 2077 series is anything like it, it will be a must-watch.
