What Time Does ‘Stranger Things’ Season 5 Release on Netflix? Full Global Schedule Revealed

It’s finally here. After 1,244 days (3 years, four months, and 25 days) following the conclusion of season 4, Stranger Things season 5 is finally upon us, but unlike prior launches of the show, we’re getting an unconventional release strategy with the series split up into three and not launching on Netflix at the usual time for Netflix Original releases. When will Stranger Things release where you live? We’ve got you covered.
In case you’ve been living under a rock, Stranger Things will culminate in eight final episodes that’ll bring the nine-year journey to a close for the cast and creators. You’ve followed the now teenagers as they grew up into young adults, but their biggest battles are yet to come, with Vecna having found a way to bring the Upside Down into Hawkins by the close of season 4.
Set in the fall of 1987, Hawkins is now facing a full-scale invasion, and the group is united by one mission: find and kill Vecna, who has vanished without a trace. The town is under military quarantine, the government is intensifying its hunt for Eleven, and she is once again forced into hiding. As the anniversary of Will’s disappearance nears, an old dread returns and the final battle looms, bringing a darkness more powerful than anything they have faced.
Ending the nightmare will take the full party together, one last time, with a cast led by Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Maya Hawke, Priah Ferguson, Brett Gelman, Jamie Campbell Bower, Cara Buono, Amybeth McNulty, Nell Fisher, Jake Connelly, Alex Breaux, and Linda Hamilton.
What Time Does Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 1 Go Live?
Unlike prior seasons, Netflix is shaking up the release time for Stranger Things‘ volume 1. It’s giving it a US-centered release time, which means some won’t be watching until Thursday. For everyone in and East of Europe, you’ll be watching episodes on November 27th. For everyone in South and North America, it’s debuting on November 26th.

Why is Netflix releasing Stranger Things at a different time than usual?
Since the very first Netflix Original dropped a decade and a bit ago, Netflix has mostly stuck to a simultaneous global release at midnight Pacific time (to then align with its Los Gatos office). That remains the case for 99.9% of Netflix Originals, but Stranger Things, as you know, is different this time around.
Why is Netflix releasing Stranger Things at a strange time? It’s getting what we’re now dubbing a US primetime release (beyond live events), a designation used sparingly in Netflix’s history. The most recent case came in 2023 for Rebel Moon, which debuted at a primetime hour in the US, although it didn’t follow suit with its second part or the Snyder director’s cut.
Given it’s the holiday season, Netflix is hoping for big viewership, and giving it a primetime spot allows it to collect valuable extra hours before the Netflix top 10s drop. Beyond that, Netflix could be trying to avoid Americans, who reportedly make up about 1/3 of all viewers during season 4’s opening week, from having the series spoiled. Of course, all episodes of season 5 are dropping during holidays in the US too (Thanksgiving and Christmas), so more people will be readily available during those primetime hours.
It’s gone past the time, and I can’t see Stranger Things‘ new season!
If you’re on the series page and not seeing season 5 yet, you may need to refresh Netflix. Doing this differs depending on what device you’re on.
TV or Streaming App – Either close the app entirely or navigate to the top-left corner where your profile icon is, click Get Help, then scroll to the third option from the bottom, “Reload Netflix.”
Mobile – Shut down the app entirely by opening all your apps, closing down Netflix, and opening it up again.
Web – Do a hard refresh: CTRL+F5 on PC or CMD+R on Mac.
If you’re still having issues, restart your device as outlined in this Netflix help guide.
