Action Movies ‘A Line of Fire’ and ‘Border Hunters’ Set Netflix Streaming Premieres for December

While the December 2025 release schedule has pretty much been announced over the past week or so, we’re still occasionally learning of some new titles set to release along the way. Today, we bring you news of two action flicks that have confirmed streaming premieres in the US (meaning this is the first time they’ve been available on an SVOD service), both featuring recognizable stars. Don’t go in expecting the best movies you’ve ever seen, though!
We’ll begin with A Line of Fire, the latest movie from Sony Pictures’ first-window deal, which falls under the Home Entertainment division. The 2025 action vehicle is headlined by David A.R. White (God’s Not Dead) and Oscar-winner Cuba Gooding Jr.
The movie is set to drop on Wednesday, December 17th, 2025, and comes just over three months after its initial VOD and Digital release in September 2025, fitting the standard “Pay-1 window,” meaning it’ll reside on Netflix for eighteen months.
Directed by Matt Shapira, the film follows the classic “retired agent pulled back in” trope but packs a punch with a strong supporting cast. The official synopsis for the movie is as follows: “Jack ‘Cash’ Conry (White) is an ex-FBI agent who left the bureau to raise his daughters after the death of his wife. But when his former partner’s niece is kidnapped, Cash is forced out of retirement and into a deadly underworld of corruption, where he must rely on his old skills to survive.”
Jason Patric (The Lost Boys), Katrina Bowden (30 Rock), and Scott Baio (Happy Days) round out the cast, with the film receiving fairly poor reviews and sitting at 4.0 on IMDb at the time of writing.
Next up, the gritty cartel thriller Border Hunters will drop on the service a day later on December 18th, reuniting Netflix subscribers with some very familiar faces from Breaking Bad and On My Block. This is similarly a title from Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions and its Home Entertainment division. No reviews are available for this yet, though it appears on Netflix before its planned initial VOD release, reported for December 23rd.
With plans clearly aimed at appealing to those who love the tactical combat of Sicario or Triple Frontier, the film is a revenge-driven thriller set against the backdrop of the cross-border drug war.
The official plot for the movie, directed by Ruben Islas, is as follows: “After his police officer brother is killed by a drug dealer who flees to the protection of a cartel-connected uncle in Mexico, an American man with a diverse law enforcement and military background goes south of the border to exact revenge.”
The film is headlined by Dean Norris (Breaking Bad, Under the Dome), who plays the vengeance-seeking Abraham, alongside Julio Macias (On My Block, Selena: The Series), who takes on the role of Andro. Joining them in the gritty action thriller are Danforth Comins (Angel Has Fallen) as Jake and Ramón Medína (Fear the Walking Dead) as Nando. The supporting ensemble also features Pía Sanz as Angelica, Eligio Meléndez (Narcos: Mexico) as Ezekiel, Luis Velázquez as Gato, and Dan Donohue (For All Mankind) as Ambassador Clifton.
