Met Eireann issues snow and ice warning for five counties
Met Eireann has issued a weather warning for snow and ice across five counties while the UK Met Office has issued a similar warning for every county in Northern Ireland.
The status yellow warning was issued for Cavan, Monaghan, Leitrim, Donegal and Sligo. It will be in place from midnight on Tuesday until midday on Wednesday.
Met Eireann said conditions will likely include wintry showers of hail, sleet and snow, with some modest accumulations in places, especially on high ground.

They also warned of potential impacts including hazardous driving conditions and icy stretches.
Conditions for the entirety of the week are expected to be cold across the country.
Alan O’Reilly of Carlow Weather has already warned of the potential of a severe December.

Taking to X, he wrote this week: ‘Interesting times ahead for weather watching as some longer term signals show increased risk of colder weather in December.
‘Impossible to call what impacts it will have here in Ireland but certainly interesting to follow.’
