Lotto winner checked ticket 'a thousand times' to make sure they won huge prize
A recent Lotto game winner said that they must’ve checked their ticket ‘a thousand times’ to make sure they won a huge €80,000.
It was a busy day in the Lotto HQ Winners Room, as three players scooped prizes ranging from €80,000 to a massive €1million — with a syndicate from Dublin taking home the biggest prize after they won the cool million in the Lotto Plus One draw on Saturday, November 1.
The winning ticket was purchased at the Circle K Dodder on the Rathfarnham Road in Rathfarnham, with the syndicate manager saying that he thought the syndicate initially matched four numbers; then five; then six.

‘I picked up the results in the shop and manually went through them, comparing the results to my ticket,’ the syndicate manager said. ‘As I went through, I was ticking the numbers off, not thinking we would ever have a top prize win.
‘I was saying to myself that we matched four numbers, then five and then never expected to be saying we had all six numbers. I called another syndicate member immediately who couldn’t believe it.’
After hiding the ticket carefully in their kitchen, the syndicate have been pondering what to do with their new windfall, with the leader saying: ‘I am looking forward to planning a few home renovations and maybe some nice trips around Ireland too.’

There was another syndicate win from Dublin on the November 4 draw after scooping up a huge €500,000, with the syndicate leader again not realising that they had won such a huge prize – admitting that they believed it to be smaller.
‘I was visiting a family member when I decided to pop into the shop to pick up our ticket,’ the syndicate member said. ‘A few days later, I noticed that I had two tickets in my pocket to check. There was nothing on the first one and when I checked this one, I could see there was something but no idea how much.
‘To be honest, I didn’t even know that there was a €500,000 win that night. I assumed it was a smaller prize, so I rang the Claims Team to find out and it was only then that I realised. I’m sure the person on the end of the line could hear how shocked I was!’

Finally, an online player in Sligo said that they checked their ticket ‘a thousand times’ after winning €80,000 on the Hand to Hand Clash instant win game.
‘I must have logged in and checked the ticket about 1,000 times,’ the winner said at Lotto HQ. I couldn’t and still can’t believe it!’
The winners come as EuroMillions players in Cork are being urged to check their tickets, after five numbers and a lucky star came in — meaning that the player with the golden ticket is due a windfall of €294,048 following last Friday’s draw (November 18).
