'Zelensky Assassination In Kyiv?': Russian FM Lavrov Invites Ukraine Pres. To Moscow For Safety

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has reiterated Moscow's position on a possible meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Lavrov said Putin remains open to meeting Zelensky, but only if the Ukrainian leader travels to Moscow. Dismissing the possibility of arranging a meeting elsewhere, Lavrov insisted that Russia would guarantee Zelensky's safety in the Russian capital. When asked about a possible meeting during the G20 leaders' summit in December, Lavrov questioned Zelensky's participation and repeated that Moscow was the only venue Putin had proposed. The remarks come amid continuing uncertainty over prospects for direct talks between the Russian and Ukrainian leaders.
