China has issued a strong warning to the United States after the Trump administration blacklisted three Chinese biotechnology companies over alleged forced labour in Xinjiang. Beijing has rejected the accusations, calling them a “lie of the century” and accusing Washington of using human rights as a pretext to suppress Chinese businesses.
The US import ban targets BGI Group, BGI Genomics and MGI Tech, with US authorities alleging links to forced labour involving Uyghurs and other persecuted ethnic groups in Xinjiang. China has condemned the move as political manipulation and warned that it will take necessary measures to protect the interests of its companies.
