Major manhunt after 7-day-old baby snatched by woman dressed as nurse

A major manhunt has been launched after a seven-day-old baby boy was snatched from a hospital ward by a woman posing as a nurse. The infant was taken from the neonatal ward of Lüdenscheid hospital in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The woman reportedly entered a patient’s room at around 3.15pm and took the baby under the pretence of carrying out an examination. 17 babies born at the hospital died from 2015-2016, with 15 non-fatal collapses. The Sterncenter parking garage is around an eight-minute drive from the hospital. An ambulance brought the baby back to hospital, where he is reported to be doing well. Police have launched a major operation to find the woman, but said they have no clear motive for the abduction. Family members reportedly did not recognise the woman who had been masquerading as a nurse. Officers are combing through CCTV footage and have deployed a sniffer dog as part of the investigation. The suspect is described as being in her mid-20s to early 30s, blonde, very slim and approximately 5ft 10in, with her hair worn in a braid. She was last seen wearing a light blue coat and large glasses.
