Popular Roscommon salon to close its doors due to major rent hike
A successful hair salon in County Roscommon has announced it will have to close its doors due to rising rent in the building where it trades.
Silke Hair Studio in Castlerea, County Roscommon, posted a sad notice of closure on their social media pages, saying the owner of the salon is heartbroken but has no choice but to close the business, due to an increase in rent.
Taking to Instagram to convey the bad news, the management said, ‘We have had the best 6 years with all our fantastic clients, building friendships, sharing fun times and laughter, and great hair.’

‘We will be closing our doors on Saturday, 4th July. All appointments before this date will be honoured, and we will be in touch with clients in the coming days who have appointments after this date.’
The owner of the salon posted that her heart was breaking as she made the announcement.
‘As my heart breaks, I write this post to announce that after six years we will be closing our business.’
‘This comes as a direct result of a significant increase in our rent, leaving us with no choice but to close our doors.
‘We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts – Michelle, Olivia, Fiona, Anne, and Thomas.’
Elsewhere, another Irish business is closing its doors after many years of trading in North Dublin.
The announcement that the popular pet store will close its doors has come as a shock to its loyal customers at the Omni Shopping Centre in Santry, Dublin.
Petworld posted the news on its website, saying its final day of trading will be on Sunday, June 21st.
