Donald Trump announces ceasefire in the war between Ukraine and Russia
US President Donald Trump has announced a three-day ceasefire in the war between Ukraine and Russia, adding that he believes an agreement to end the bloodshed is close at hand.
The deal to call a three-day ceasefire was agreed upon by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine ahead of the famous Victory Day parade in Moscow.
The ceasefire will come into force from Saturday (May 9) to Monday (May 11), and reflects sentiments in the Kremlin, after it was suggested that President Putin was worried about his safety during the Red Square event in Moscow on Victory Day.

Hopefully, it is the beginning of the end of a very long, deadly, and hard-fought war.’
‘Talks are continuing on ending this Major Conflict, the biggest since World War II, and we are getting closer and closer every day.’
