Prime Video’s New Spider-Man Series Is Officially Releasing Early
Spider-Man fans can watch the upcoming series Spider-Noir on the big screen before it's released on Prime Video. Alamo Drafthouse just announced that it will screen the first two episodes of Spider-Noir at a special event on May 25 in New York City, Los Angeles, Austin, San Francisco, Chicago and Raleigh. Cast members Jack Huston and Lamorne Morris will take part in a Q&A following the screening at the Los Angeles location. While tickets are free, customers need to purchase a food and beverage voucher in order to reserve their spot at a screening. The theater chain is pairing the sneak peek with a 1930s-inspired menu. The voucher can be used toward either Popcorn Noir or The City Dog. At the bar, available cocktails include the Black Manhattan and Dark & Stormy. For dessert, fans can dine on the Blackout Malt, which is vanilla ice cream mixed with Oreos and Whoppers, with whipped cream and chocolate drizzle on top. May 25 is the same day that Spider-Noir will premiere on MGM+ before the entire eight-episode first season drops on Prime Video on May 27. Due to its gritty noir aesthetic, the series will be available to watch in Authentic Black & White and True-Hue Full Color. Nicolas Cage stars as a 1930s private investigator named Ben Reilly who must face his past decisions while being the lone superhero in New York City. His Spider-Noir co-stars include Huston, Morris, Brendan Gleeson, Li Jun Li and Karen Rodriguez.
This isn't the first time that Cage has had a role in the Spider-Man franchise. He voiced a different version of Spider-Man Noir in the animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, though he did not return for the sequel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. The trilogy will conclude with Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Man, which will be released on June 18, 2027. After Into the Spider-Verse, Cage went on to star in movies like The Croods: A New Age, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, Arcadian and Longlegs. Now Cage is heading to the small screen and returning to the world of Spider-Man with MGM+ and Prime Video's Spider-Noir.
Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot are the showrunners of Spider-Noir; they're also serving as executive producers with Cage, Phil Lord Christopher Miller (producers of the Spider-Verse films), Amy Pascal, Harry Bradbeer, Aditya Sood, Dan Shear and Pavlina Hatoupis. The two episodes that will be screened at Alamo Drafthouse were written by Uziel and Christopher Chen, respectively, with Bradbeer overseeing production as the director. Spider-Noir premieres Monday, May 25 at 9 p.m. EDT on MGM+ and Wednesday, May 27 on Prime Video.
