GTA Online Final Major Update Before GTA 6 Has Gamers Pumped
With the wait for Grand Theft Auto 6 finally dwindling down to the official release date in November, fans have been gearing up for the official marketing campaign to kick off any day now. Take-Two's Strauss Zelnick recently confirmed that Sony has marketing exclusivity for GTA 6, putting fans on high alert for a major announcement soon. While players sit on the edge of their seats, GTA Online has largely been the go-to outlet for fans looking to scratch their GTA itch, and Rockstar has been rolling out several promotions across the last year. In a recent GTA Online "Nightclub Bonuses" blog post from Rockstar on May 7 detailing increased rewards, discounts, and bonuses, but they also snuck in a little teaser for an upcoming "exciting new update" this summer. As you might expect, gamers are losing it over the prospect of GTA Online's final update this summer before Grand Theft Auto 6's official debut in November "with a variety of special events and celebrations" (via X).
With the reveal of GTA Online's plans for the summer pointing to a possible prelude to GTA 6, similar to the GTA Online teaser missions leading up to Red Dead Redemption 2's launch way back in 2017. This could mean that players will be getting a taste of what GTA 6 has to offer much sooner than November 19 in the form of unique special events and GTA Online promotions, likely rolling out across the summer alongside the official marketing push. As such, hype for Grand Theft Auto 6's launch just kicked into overdrive, and any remaining fears surrounding a potential third delay have all but disappeared at this point. However, there are millions of gamers who will not be able to play GTA 6 when it releases on November 19, seeing as the PC version won't be available at launch and Rockstar is focused on a console-first strategy, confirmed by Take-Two's Zelnick as well.
PC gamers haven't taken that news lightly, despite it not being a huge surprise that Rockstar's core audience has always been console users. In fact, a recent leak exposed some of Rockstar's financials, showcasing just how lucrative GTA Online on console has been for the company, so the PC delay shouldn't come as a major shock to anyone.

With players counting down the days to November 19, this summer promises to be one for the record books.
