Cyberpunk 2077 Officially Returning For Brand-New DLC
How time flies, chooms. Cyberpunk 2077 celebrated its fifth anniversary back in December, if you can believe it. While you'd be forgiven for assuming Cyberpunk 2077 might have died down in the half a decade since its release, 2026 has seen a deluge of announcements. We're getting multiplayer arcade games, a new card game, a brand-new Night City VR experience, and plenty more besides. Of all the complimentary Cyberpunk 2077 content, however, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners stands as the very best. The ten-episode 2022 Netflix anime miniseries produced by Studio Trigger and CD Projekt Red is just damn good television, and we can't wait for that second season to land. Before that, though, Edgrunners is making its official return in a brand-new DLC crossover event.
The free-to-play open-world RPG Wuthering Waves recently announced a special Cyberpunk 2077 collaboration as part of version 3.4. This brand-new DLC will introduce a number of Edgerunners characters to the game, including Lucy and Rebecca as collaboration-exclusive 5-Star Resonators in the Solaris region. Rebecca will be free for all players. The trailer, which you can see above, also teases the inclusion of David Martinez, the lead character of Edgerunners. This special DLC event is expected to release alongside Version 3.4, which at the time of writing is planned to go live on June 8, 2026. Developer Kuro Games promises more information on the collaboration soon, so stay frosty. Wuthering Waves is currently available for free on PC via Steam or the game's official launcher. You can also play on Android or iOS devices, and PlayStation 5. The game was recently confirmed to be coming to Xbox in July, so Xbox gamers may miss out on the Cyberpunk 2077 content, but that remains to be seen. You might as well go ahead and get excited for this, because it sounds like we're in for a wait as far as Cyberpunk 2 is concerned. Polish brokerage house Noble Securities recently suggested we won't see the full sequel until the tenth anniversary of Cyberpunk 2077 in 2030, which is probably not what anyone wants to hear. They explained:
"Regarding the sequel to Cyberpunk, Noble Securities points out that the team working on the project as part of the studio's second key franchise consists of 135 people and is expected to double in size within two years. The desire to integrate multiplayer mode into the production prompted us to extend the production time beyond the state resulting from the progress of work on the benchmark W4. As a result, the budget has grown to PLN 1.5 billion, and we expect the release in Q4 2030 (the 10th anniversary of CP77)."
In other words, if you really want to scratch that Cyberpunk 2077 itch, you might want to go ahead and download Wuthering Waves. At least it's free.
