Overlord Movie Finally Lands a Netflix Release Date After 2 Years
After a two-year-long wait, Overlord fans will soon be able to watch the franchise's newest animated movie on Netflix, which is now officially set to be added to the streaming giant next month. Netflix's upcoming programming reveals that Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom will be arriving on the streaming platform in the U.S. and Canada on May 10, 2026. Originally released in theaters in November 2024, the film sees Momonga, now known as the Sorcerer King Ainz Ooal Gown, rallying the Sorcerer Kingdom (and its undead army) to try and defeat the Demon Emperor, Jaldabaoth. The film is currently available for streaming on Crunchyroll.
Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom Arrives on Netflix This May
In The Sacred Kingdom, Demon Emperor Jaldabaoth threatens the peace of The Sacred Kingdom with his army of evil demi-humans. When the Sorcerer Kingdom's enemies, the Slane Theocracy, beg the kingdom for help, Momonga feels obligated to join the fight. Alongside his undead army, the Sorcerer King united with the Slane Theocracy to stop Jaldabaoth's rise from power once and for all. The film directly adapts Volumes 12 and 13 of the Overlord light novel series, covering its Holy Kingdom arc. Unlike previous Overlord movies, it's not a recap, but a new feature film that fits into the canon, and one that fans definitely won't want to miss. The Sacred Kingdom has also been largely beloved by fans, making its arrival on Netflix an even bigger deal for Overlord fans who haven't been able to watch it at this time. It currently has a 94% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, sourced from over 250 verified audience reviews. One five-star review of the film called it a "must watch", especially for fans eagerly awaiting more Overlord content. The Overlord anime adaptation debuted in 2015 and has run for four seasons to date. The last season aired throughout 2022, and there hasn't been any official information released about a possible Season 5 at this time. However, previous seasons have tended to follow a multi-year gap in between releases, so it may not be much longer that fans have to wait until getting some news regarding Overlord Season 5, although producer Kadokawa's recent losses may end up bringing bad news for the series.

The Sacred Kingdom's arrival on Netflix follows a recent streaming update that saw all four seasons of the anime adaptation added to the platform at the end of March 2026. The series is available in the U.S. and Canada as well as the United Kingdom, Latin America, Australia and New Zealand, with the latter regions being able to stream the series on Netflix for the first time.
It remains to be seen at this time whether The Sacred Kingdom might arrive in more countries outside the U.S. and Canada at a later date following its Netflix debut on May 10. The series has consistently been a steady hit since its debut, and both the light novel and manga remain releasing new content to this day. Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom arrives on Netflix in North America on May 10.
