Ireland weather: Widespread rain this week as Met Eireann forecasts unsettled conditions
This week will be mild and humid but remain unsettled with a mobile southwest flow feeding up rain-bearing cloudMet Eireann has forecast widespread rain this week as unsettled conditions continue.Today will have a dry and bright to start with sunny spells and just isolated showers. Cloud will start to increase from the southwest but staying generally dry for the day across the southern half of the country before light rain and drizzle moves in towards the evening.Further north, scattered showers will develop, turning heavy at times with the chance of hail, before easing later in the day. Highest temperatures of 9 to 13 or 14 degrees are forecast in light to moderate southerly winds.Mostly dry with clear spells in the north tonight. Cloud will gradually spread from the southwest with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle moving northeastwards, becoming widespread by morning.Lowest temperatures of 0 to 4 degrees in the north with a chance of frost. Elsewhere, slightly milder with lowest temperatures of 4 to 8 degrees. Some mist and fog patches will also develop in light to moderate southeasterly breezes.It will be dull on Tuesday, with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle continuing. The rain will turn heavy, particularly in parts of the west and southwest through the evening. Some hill, mist and coastal fog too. Mild but breezy with highest temperatures of 10 to 14 degrees, in moderate southeast winds, strong and gusty along coasts.Here is Met Eireann's national outlook for the coming days:Outlook"Mild and humid but remaining unsettled with a mobile southwest flow feeding up rain-bearing cloud."Tuesday Night"Wet and breezy overnight with widespread rain, heavy at times over southern and western counties. Mild with lowest temperatures of 8 to 10 degrees, in moderate to fresh southerly winds."Wednesday"Rain and drizzle will be generally widespread, with heavy falls over southern and western parts early on. Scattered showers will feed in from the Atlantic behind that rain, bringing further heavy falls over southern counties through the afternoon, with the chance of isolated thunderstorms. Feeling mild with highest temperatures of 11 to 16 degrees, in a mostly fresh southwest wind, strong and gusty near coasts."Wednesday night"Scattered showers will continue to feed in off the Atlantic but will gradually become more isolated and confined to western parts overnight. Towards morning clearer spells will develop further east with just isolated showers. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees in moderate to fresh southwest winds, strong on coasts."Thursday"Starting off bright and crisp with just isolated showers. Long dry and sunny spells will develop through the day. Into the evening, cloud will increase from the southwest with outbreaks of rain and drizzle. Highest temperatures of 11 to 15 degrees in moderate to fresh southwest winds."Thursday night"Rain and drizzle will extend to most areas overnight. Scattered showers will follow in behind as the rain clears northeastwards towards morning. Lowest temperatures of 4 to 10 degrees, coldest in the north, with light to moderate south to southeast winds."Friday"Generally unsettled for the day with rain and drizzle clearing to the northeast early on. Elsewhere scattered showers and the occasional sunny spell, with some showers turning heavy at times.
