She was unable to continue and the local rescue team, called the CNSAS, was called in to help. They deployed an emergency helicopter from the city of Olbia as well as a local mountain rescue team.CNSAS said the rescue was particularly tricky as the woman was injured in a remote gorge deep 700 metres from the famous Cala Fuili cove.CNSAS said in a statement that the air crew worked with personnel on the ground to rescue the woman. And the rescue also saw one of the helicopter crew land to coordinate the recovery of the patient by a winch. The statement said: "The air rescue medical team, with the Alpine Rescue helicopter technician present, stabilised the patient and subsequently recovered her by winch, with the support of technicians on the ground. The woman was then transported to the Cala Gonone sports field to be picked up by the Cala Gonone Blue Cross ambulance for subsequent transport to the hospital for treatment."The statement also said the woman's companion was later escorted to his car by another rescue team.Want to see more of the stories you love from Dublin Live?
