Heartbroken parents of murdered Willie Maughan warn his killers that 'God will deal with them in his own way'

The heartbroken parents of murdered Willie Maughan have warned his killers that "God will deal with them in his own way" as they pleaded with those who know where he is buried to come forward.Joe and Helen Maughan made the appeal ahead of the 11-year anniversary of when Willie, who was 34, and his pregnant partner Anastasija Varslavane, who was 21, were last seen alive on April 14, 2015.The couple had been living in a caravan in Gormanstwon, Co Meath, but planned to move to Tallaght in Dublin to live with family. It is believed that crime boss Cornelius Price, who died in 2023, and members of his gang murdered the couple at land once owned by the violent thug before burying them in bog land.A search was carried out by Gardaí of land on Ring Commons, Balrothery East, Co Dublin, in 2024 but unfortunately the couple's remains were not found.Willie's parents Joe, 71, and Helen, 67, said they continue to live a daily nightmare not knowing what exactly happened to them or where they are buried. Helen said: "We still have hope. It doesn't feel like 11 years, it only feels like yesterday. It's still so raw for us and we continue to pray for them."We had hopes that the dig in 2024 was going to give us some answers but our hopes were dashed that day. But we will never give up as there is someone out there who knows something."I would appeal to anyone who has information, it doesn't matter how small it is, that you forward it on to the Gardaí and if you don't want to tell them, contact us."Please clear your conscience and let us have closure. It's been going on 11 years now and we know people have information and I would appeal to them to let us know where their bodies are so we can give them a Christian burial."She added: "We know someone has the answers out there and they have no need to be afraid as the person who owned the compound where Willie was murdered is gone [Price]. Why are they afraid? Why can't they just come forward and tell us where the bodies are?"Let them live their lives and let God deal with them in his own way. God has dealt with a few already and we believe when you do something wrong on someone it falls back on you."Helen said Willie's two daughters, Whitney, 22, and Cindy, 16, miss their father terribly and the whole family continue to go through a living nightmare not knowing where he is.She added: "If he was still here with us our life would be complete and happy but our life has been torn part since this happened and as anyone out there who has someone missing knows, it's an ongoing nightmare."You wake up every morning and go to bed every night thinking about them. Our belief is in God and we went to Knock recently and prayed for them. I am constantly getting masses said for them."I pray to God we will get them back so we can give them a proper burial. His children are growing up now too and miss him. It took a big part of their lives as well."Joe said they are not intimidated by nasty comments on social media as they have already suffered the worst nightmare imaginable. He concluded: "We know he's dead and that he suffered, and I wouldn't wish that on anyone. When something goes up online, people close to Price get up on Facebook and TikTok and start making comments."They do it to intimidate us and shut us up, using dirty words, but we are not affected by that. We are affected by what happened to William and Ana. So just tell us where their bodies are."Want to see more of the stories you love from Dublin Live?
