Israel passes death penalty law for Palestinians convicted of fatal attacks

Israel says it will destroy all the homes along Lebanon’s border with Israel and stop 600,000 residents who fled southern Lebanon from returning to their villages. Its parliament has also provoked anger around the world after it approved the death penalty by hanging for deadly attacks that targeted the state of Israel. Israel hasn’t executed anyone since Adolf Eichmann, one of the Nazi architects of the Holocaust in 1962. But the new law effectively targets Palestinians in the occupied West Bank who are tried by military courts – which have a 96% conviction rate.
